Oblong

I had just turned of age
and it was 12:14 A.M. at Liverpool station
there was a baguette sandwich
in the inner pocket of my waxed work jacket
it poked out when I bent down
to wash my hands at the restroom sink
nobody was there in the mirror except for me
and I chuckled out loud

I had just turned 23
and it is 7:08 P.M. where I live
I bought a burrito wrap on my way home
with bandages on the arm I carry my cane with
and as I reach down to yank on the broken faucet
I see that I am alone yet again
so I spit in my reflection
and carry on with my day
